Ohio State linebacker Ryan Shazier was named a finalist for the Butkus Award today, given to the nation's best college football linebacker.
Also named finalists were Anthony Barr of UCLA, Buffalo's Khalil Mack, Alabama's C.J. Mosley and Stanford's Shayne Skov. If the winner is chosen by production, this should be a two-horse race between Shazier and Mack.
Shazier set a career-high with 20 tackles in Ohio State's 42-14 win over Indiana Saturday, and tied an Ohio State record with 16 solo tackles. He also finished with five tackles for loss.
Shazier has 108 tackles on the season, including 19.5 tackles for loss.
