Another Big Ten coach is on his way out.
After eight seasons, Minnesota has parted ways with head coach Richard Pitino. Pitino leaves Minnesota with a 141–123 overall record, but just a 54–96 conference record. In his eight seasons with the Gophers, Pitino had just one season with a winning record in Big Ten play.
It wasn't all bad, however – Pitino led the Gophers to an NIT title in his first year and NCAA tournament berths in 2017 and 2019. He was also named the Big Ten coach of the year in 2017.
Even before news of his termination broke, Pitino was reportedly interviewing for the head coaching vacancy at New Mexico.
