UPDATE (2:55 p.m.): Oregon says there is nothing to see here, and that this was all part of the plan.
From Matt Phrem of Oregon's 24/7 site:
Per a well placed source, "Nothing has changed. Oregon knew Adams had summer work to do. Adams said he needed to pass a summer class before graduating. This is spring graduates from EWU. Not summer. Nothing has changed."
"Braxton Miller to Oregon" had its hours on the internet, short as they were. Oregon didn't too bad with a plan B, however, picking up Eastern Washington's spark plug of of a QB, Vernon Adams.
It looks like that probably won't happen now.
From Andrew Grief of OregonLive.com:
Quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. did not meet Eastern Washington's graduation standards after the spring academic quarter, the university announced Thursday, news that throws his plan to play football for Oregon this fall in flux.
Adams was working to graduate with a degree in interdisciplinary studies, transfer to Oregon and play immediately for the Ducks because of an NCAA rule allowing players who have eligibility remaining at the time of graduation to play elsewhere without sitting out the normal one season.
Adams walked in EWU's graduation ceremony but told The Oregonian/OregonLive that he had to complete a math class with additional work in the weeks after. It appears he did not do enough.
Eastern Washington is scheduled to play Oregon in 2015. The Adams-EWU bridge could already be burned though.
