Iowa is my pick to win the West this fall, and I can't decide if I'm more or less confident in that pick after reading this Des Moines Register article about how Kirk Ferentz isn't as boring as he seems.
Who says Kirk Ferentz can't change? This summer he switched favorite ice creams, from Ben and Jerry's Cherry Garcia to a coffee flavor the company brought out of recall.
"Boy, it's good," Ferentz said. "Too good."
Ick. The only thing more disgusting than coffee is coffee-flavored ice cream.
And get this. Iowa players will now get their weekly scouting reports on their iPads.
Iowa football: Boldly moving into the year 2010... in 2014.
"We're probably not as generic as we advertise," Ferentz acknowledged during an interview with the Des Moines Register. "And really, we've been labeled that. We didn't label that ourselves."
Kirk, I don't mean to pick bones with a man who will make more in a week than I'll make in a year, but uh.... why are you advertising about how generic you are? Pretty sure that's labeling yourselves generic.
