As you may have heard by now, Michigan plays Ohio State this week. While Ohio State fans are always up for The Game (especially since ol' Iron Balls himself, Jim Tressel, rolled down I-71), but it doesn't appear Michigan fans have the same sort of appetite.
Let's check-in with Greg Carino, of the voice of the Michigan studentry, The Michigan Daily:
But a win can’t salvage the Wolverines’ season, one filled with one embarrassment on top of another. It can’t salvage Brady Hoke’s job — even if the current athletic director says he’ll evaluate the position at the end of the season. It can’t even salvage the meaning in the rivalry itself, which isn’t much of one given that the Buckeyes have won 10 of the last 12.
Just last year, down to the very last second, Michigan nearly pulled off the upset. There are plenty of instances in this rivalry where the underdog has played the role of spoiler. But isn’t it sad that’s what’s left to hope for?
The last time the Wolverines did win this rivalry game, it was against a squad with a freshman quarterback and an interim head coach. It was also three years ago.
Sadly, for Greg, anyway, that could be Michigan's last win in awhile.
