Ah, I remember those dark, dark times. Ohio State was 6-6 and Gene Smith refused to self-impose a bowl ban. Instead, the Buckeyes headed to Jacksonville to play Will Muschamp's Florida Gators in a bowl that was actually titled the TaxSlayer.com Bowl.
Somehow, as a fan, I was supposed to be excited about this. Unless I was a millionaire, I would never wake up and say, "Wow, I'd like to spend $1-2,000 on a trip to Jacksonville to watch a forgettable exhibition game featuring two 6-6 teams."
Does this make me a bad fan? Probably, but it's also makes me practical.
Regardless, it seems like Iowa fans — who, again, live in places like Iowa — aren't too thrilled about their chance to head to Jacksonville to watch Kirk Ferentz and the Hawkeyes take-on a middling SEC team in the Tennessee Volunteers.
According to Steve Batterson of QCTimes.com, Iowa fans have only purchased 3,500 of Iowa's allotted 8,000 tickets.
By comparison, Tennessee, in its first bowl since 2010, gobbled up its 8,000 tickets by "midweek last week."
I, for one, do not look forward to the "S! E! C!" chant rolling around EverBank field as Iowa trails by three scores late in the fourth quarter. THIS GAME DOESN'T REPRESENT ME.
