I get a lot of tread out of making fun of Tennessee and its football program, but not even a stone cold hater such as myself can hate on Butch Jones' latest remix.
Volunteer junior tight end (and biomedical engineering major) Alex Ellis caught six passes for 115 yards and a touchdown this season, which wasn't bad production for a walk-on.
Ellis, however, is no longer a walk-on. Butch Jones awarded him with a scholarship during a team presentation of bowl gifts, and Ellis' reaction tells you all you need to know about the impact of the gift.
Well struck, Tennessee.
