The offseason: Where — unless a team's Heisman-contending QB is switching to H-Back/punt returner or earning a commitment from a recruit who can't officially sign until at least February of the following year — it's all bad news.
From Neil Schulman of InAllKindsOfWeather.com, who broke the story:
A source has told me that two Florida Gator football players were recently cited for failing to pay a tab at a restaurant.
The source said that running back Adam Lane and defensive tackle Caleb Brantley ran up a tab of approximately $90 at a Splitz Bowling Alley. They then walked out of the bar without paying. Legally speaking, that’s a second degree misdemeanor labeled as “FRAUD-SWINDLE: DEFRAUD INNKEEPER UNDER 300 DOLLARS”. Neither player has been formally arrested.
Andy Hutchins of AlligatorArmy.com went further:
Brantley's report is dated July 6. In it, ACSO deputy Michael Griffeth writes that Brantley was identified "during personal contact with him," and stated, after being read his Miranda rights, that he had been at Splitz and walked out without paying. Brantley additionally told Griffen that Lane and a third person had been with him at Splitz and left without paying.
Lane's report is dated July 10. In it, ASCO deputy Carlos Casanova writes that Lane was positivtely identified by a witness from a photo lineup, and lists three other people — including Brantley, the other person named by Brantley, and a person sharing the surname of the person named by Brantley — as suspects.
This just goes to show: Nobody is above paying a tab at Splitz.
