Northwestern, using a combination of defense and more defense and the occasional trick play, took down 21st ranked Stanford on Saturday to win the battle of the nerds. Jim Harbaugh, stewing in a basement easy chair in Ann Arbor, was reported to have called current coach David Shaw at halftime and left a lengthy message consisting of nothing but anguished moaning and yelling.

Now, I'd be remiss if I didn't point out that from experience I know that early season losses don't necessarily preclude a team from winning a national championship. But still... it's pretty funny.
