Charlie Weis, who miraculously wasn't arrested for embezzling millions of dollars from American universities, has some thoughts about his tenure at Notre Dame, which ended with a 37-25 record.
Speaking with the Little Rock Touchdown club, Charlie illuminated them as to the reason of his dismal tenure at Notre Dame.
From ArkansasOnline.com:
Weis said his struggles at Notre Dame could be traced to the composition of his coaching staff. Three of his assistants -- Michael Haywood (Miami, Ohio), Rob Ianello (Akron) and Brian Polian (Nevada) -- eventually left to run their own programs.
"I hired too many people that wanted to use the school as a steppingstone for a head coaching job," Weis said.
Makes you think, for sure.
Did he make the same mistake at Kansas, where he reportedly fell asleep during team meetings and finished with a 6-22 record? If Charlie shed light on that, the article does not say.
Weis now spends his days cheering for Alabama, where his son is a football analyst under Nick Saban. He seem's content with his decision:
"I was a little surprised I wasn't as depressed as I thought I would be not coaching, to tell you the truth."
In typical Weis fashion, he forgot the full disclosure: Notre Dame and Kansas still owe him a collective $24,600,000(!!!!!!) through 2016. That's sure to help assuage any feelings of depression.
