Nick Saban's a man with many dollar signs sitting in his bank account. He made $7.16 million in the 2014 season, leading Alabama to a 12-2 record, SEC Championship and Sugar Bowl birth. That's what happens when you have four national championship rings in your office.
Wednesday, though, Saban decided to release another piece of his already vaunted estate. Saban collaborated with the Mercedes-Benz of Birmingham — where his son, Nicholas is the AMG specialist — in designing and producing the Nick Saban Signature Series Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. And it only cost $200,000!
From al.com:
The nine-passenger luxury van is decked out with three TVs, high-tech audio and video systems and a cooler. Other premium touches include hardwood flooring, high-grain leather and massage chairs.
Priced at $200,000, the new vehicle was designed with tailgating, corporate entertaining and family travel in mind. It's a limited edition series, with 15 to be produced for the 2015-2016 college football season.
Mercedes-Benz of Birmingham, which Saban co-owns, showed off the Sprinter Wednesday night during an event at its location in Hoover.
Saban told guests he didn't design the vehicle; he left that up to the experts. But he wanted to make sure it set a benchmark of excellence.
"There's a standard that we want to do things to," he said. "After looking at what they produced, I'm extremely pleased and proud and happy."
Saban's son said his dad had plenty of input on the color schemes, materials and features of the tailgate machine, complete with a phone, DirecTV hookup and three HDTVs.
Make sure you watch the video in the story from the dealership laying out all the Spinter's features: It's tasty.
