Jim Harbaugh is 1-1 as Michigan's coach. After his team started slow against Oregon State's spread attack, the Wolverines' defense eventually took control of the game to down the Beavers, 35-7.
Harbaugh, however, is apparently still thinking about an errant "roughing the punter" call in the second quarter. Harbaugh went ballistic at the time, and on Monday it was reported the Big Ten "apologized" for the call.
That is not so, according to Jim Harbaugh, who explained it only as he can during his Monday radio show appearance.
From Freep.com:
He explained that his belief -- that the punter is fair game to be tackled outside the pocket -- was deemed correct by the Big Ten.
The question began with show host Jim Brandstatter saying that the Big Ten apologized, and Harbaugh said, "Yeah." But he clarified today that it wasn't an apology.
"Explanation," Harbaugh said today. "(Apology), that was Jim Brandstatter's words. I would categorize it as an explanation. That was what those calls are, what those questions are for, so you can have an explanation to your players so you can coach them better."
Michigan hosts UNLV on Saturday at noon. The game will be broadcasted on BTN.
