College football's longest tenured head coach, Virginia Tech's Frank Beamer, is set to retire at the end of the 2015, according to Mike Jurecki, a journalist for FoxSports 910 in Phoenix.

Beamer, who took the helm in Blacksburg in 1987, turned the Hokies into a perennial ACC power and is one of the game's most respected coaches. His attention to special teams and a grind-it-out defense helped coin the term "Beamer Ball," his team's recognizable brand.
Prior to taking the job at Virginia Tech, Beamer was the head coach at Murray State from 1981-1986, and he has amassed 275 wins to this point in his career.
The Hokies are currently 4-5 and will need to win two of their final three regular season games (at Georgia Tech, at home against North Carolina and at Virginia) in order to qualify for a bowl game.
Virginia Tech has appeared in a bowl game every year since 1993.
