The Buckeyes' season-opening game against Bowling Green may have just gotten a bit easier.

The Falcons top returning offensive weapon, wide receiver Gehrig Dieter, who will graduate in May, announced via Twitter today that he will transfer to Alabama for his final season of collegiate competition.

Dieter, a 6-foot-3, 210-pound wideout, led the Falcons' high-powered 2015 offense with 94 receptions and finished second to NFL early-entrant Roger Lewis in both yards (1033) and touchdowns (10) for the MAC champions. He made national headlines in October when he made a pair of dazzling touchdown receptions against rival Toledo.

While he intends to transfer as a graduate-student, there may be a wrench thrown into his plans. According to current NCAA rules, a player may not play for three different four-year schools, and Dieter transferred to Bowling Green from SMU, where he played in 10 games, in 2013.

New head coach Mike Jinks may have his work cut out for him in his first season in BG. The Falcons will enter Ohio Stadium needing to replace not only Dieter and Lewis, but also All-MAC quarterback Matt Johnson, who led the conference with a school record 4465 yards passing in 2015.
