Baylor hired Missouri athletic director Mack Rhoades Wednesday afternoon.
Rhoades hired Houston coach Tom Herman from Ohio State while serving as Houston's AD, and it appears he's got his eyes on bringing Herman to his new spot in Waco.
From heartlandcollegesports.com:
Tom Herman have already touched based via a face-to-face meeting regarding the possibility of Herman becoming the next head coach of the Baylor Bears. Herman’s agent was recently in Waco to discuss the position.
Pete Mundo, the author of the report, says this has "real legs." Colt Barber of 247 Sports confirmed the report.
How serious is this? Well, Herman reportedly was close to jumping ship to Missouri this past year:
FWIW I heard from a good source recently that Herman seriously considered #Mizzou job but wants to hold out for Texas A&M if open.

A "source close to Herman" denies these two reports, however:
Source close to Tom Herman says Report of contact with Baylor is "ridiculous" and totally without merit.

Herman, using similar language as a source close to him, also denied meeting with Baylor:
UH's Tom Herman to @HoustonChron: 'Reports of any contact between me and any other schools are completely ridiculous and absolutely false.'

It's a good thing coaches have never been known to lie about things like this.
Herman is 13-1 as Houston coach and entering his second season, which starts Sept. 3 against Oklahoma at the Houston Texans' NRG Stadium.
