After consecutive weeks that saw Nebraska give up 42 points on the road to Oregon and then lose at home to unranked Northern Illinois University, 21-17, the university announced they have fired athletic director Shawn Eichorst.
In a statement on the university's website, Nebraska chancellor said, "Shawn has led Nebraska Athletics (sic) in many positive ways, but those efforts have not translated into on-field performance. Our fans and our student-athletes deserve leadership that drives the highest levels of competitiveness, as well as excellence across all facets of Husker Athletics (sic)."
Since Eichorst's time in Lincoln has come and gone, Cornhuskers football has lost at least four games while the basketball team on the other hand only appeared in one NCAA tournament in his tenure.
Ohio State football will travel to Nebraska Saturday, Oct. 14.
