In his sixth game with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Urban Meyer finally got his first win as an NFL coach.
After an 0-5 start to his tenure, Meyer and the Jaguars were victorious in London on Sunday, defeating the Miami Dolphins 23-20 on a last-second 53-yard field goal by Matthew Wright.

The win didn't come easily, as the Jaguars fell behind 20-17 in the fourth quarter after Meyer made a questionable decision to go for it on fourth down with a 4-point lead. The Jaguars would ultimately come back to win the game, though, as Wright made a pair of long field goals – one from 54 and one from 53 – in the game's final four minutes and the Jaguars defense stopped the Dolphins when they attempted to go for it on their own side of the field with the score tied and less than two minutes left to play.
With the Jaguars facing 4th-and-8 from the 44-yard line and just five seconds remaining in regulation, Meyer made a shrewd decision to throw a 9-yard slant to Laviska Shenault and immediately call a timeout, setting up the game-winning field goal.
“I'll never forget this for the rest of my life,” Meyer said in his postgame press conference.
Meyer's start to his coaching career has been tumultuous, as he faced public reprimand for his off-field behavior following the Jaguars’ fourth loss of the season to the Bengals, but the Jaguars – who had lost 20 straight games dating back to last season before Sunday – will now have the momentum of a win going into their bye week before returning to action against the Seahawks in Week 8.
