Michigan football failed to earn even the lowest of bowl bids, and it's still without a football coach. Its basketball team just posted back-to-back home losses to the New Jersey Institute of Technology and Eastern Michigan.

There have certainly been higher times for Michigan athletics, and in a bid to restore itself to its glory, standard definition years... the Wolverines have turned to a group of professional bullshitters.

From David Jesse of Freep.com:

The University of Michigan hired a public relations firm that worked with Penn State University on the Jerry Sandusky scandal to help U-M with the issues that led the resignation of athletic director Dave Brandon and the firing of football coach Brady Hokethis fall, the university confirmed to the Free Press.

Edelman, one of the world's largest public relations firms, has been helping U-M manage its communications to the public and media since shortly after quarterback Shane Morris went back into a game following a concussion in late September.

"We believe there are times when getting an outside perspective is the smart thing to do," U-M spokesman Rick Fitzgerald said in response to Free Press questions about Edelman. "We engaged Edelman to provide just that type of external perspective following the football-concussion incident. There is no ongoing work at this time."

Wow, are there some bold, bold flavors emanating from Ann Arbor right now.
