Once considered a candidate to replace Chris Holtmann at Ohio State before the Buckeyes hired Jake Diebler, May has taken Michigan from a dismal 8-24 campaign in its last year under Juwan Howard to a 20-5 start to the 2024-25 season. The No. 12 Wolverines are currently in first place in the Big Ten with a conference record of 12-2.
May-led Michigan defeated Ohio State 86-83 in Value City Arena on Sunday, the only time the two rivals are scheduled to meet this season, though May and Diebler both called for the series to be a protected rivalry that is played twice every year after the contest.
May's career record is 146-74, with a Final Four appearance at Florida Atlantic in 2023. Michigan plays its next game at home on Friday against No. 14 Michigan State.
