On Aug. 21, 2017, America will fall under the path of a total solar eclipse.
The so-called Great American Total Solar Eclipse will darken skies all the way from Oregon to South Carolina, along a stretch of land about 70 miles (113 kilometers) wide. People who descend upon this "path of totality" for the big event are in for an unforgettable experience.
The eclipse will be visible in Ohio, though not as a full eclipse. With a total eclipse equaling 1.0 on a scale of magnitude, most of Ohio will experience between an 0.8 and 0.9. The magnitude increases toward the southwest corner of the state.
However, there's another just over the horizon, relatively speaking. A total eclipse will cross through Cleveland on April 8, 2024.
