In a declaration of independence of sorts, Dave Grohl released the Foo Fighters debut album today in 1995. He recorded it before he had a band in place and he went ahead an pulled a Prince and recorded himself playing every note all by his lonesome.
Until this point Grohl was mostly known as the drummer from that little ol' band from Seattle, Nirvana. At the time, Grohl described the album as a cleansing experience to help him cope with the death of his friend Kurt Cobain. Today, many of us recognize it as the first sound of the most consistent rock and roll band of the past 25 years.
