Yesterday (Monday) was the 70th anniversary of the event that paved the way for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame being located in Cleveland.
1952: The Moondog Coronation Ball, considered the first rock and roll concert, took place at Cleveland Arena.
The concert was organized by Alan Freed (a disc jockey and considered to have popularized the term "Rock and Roll" at WJW-Radio), along with Lew Platt, a local concert promoter, and Freed's sponsors, including Leo Mintz, owner of the Record Rendezvous store.
