A few hours ago, Buckingham Palace officials announced that Queen Elizabeth's doctors are "concerned" for her health and that she is currently under "medial supervision" at her estate in Balmoral, Scotland.

While this statement seems to be relatively innocuous, it has also been announced that most of her family, including all her children and grandchildren, have been summoned to her side. Additionally, the BBC canceled all programing to cover the Queen's health and every single person on camera is wearing all black, which is apparently the BBC's policy for the death of a monarch.

At any rate, it seems fairly likely that her death might be announced within the next day or so. If this indeed the case, it would bring the end to a long and remarkable life. Queen Elizabeth II is 96 years old and just celebrated Platinum Jubilee earlier this year. She has remained working the entirety of this time, and just two days ago she ceremonially appointed the UK's new Prime Minister, the 15th of her 70 year reign.
