What's up ladies and germs!? We are now four days away from departure on this new nonprofit adventure. I walked away from my job (again) for this, and sold my car Thursday to help fund (the beginning i hope) of this walk. I have officially gone all-in on this. I was finally able to sit down and get the inaugural episode of our podcast shot and published. There are some sound issues I am going to work on going forward, but we also knew that this would be a work-in-progress type of thing. At the very least I cut my teeth in an interviewing aspect.
I stopped in at Runners Plus and Dick's Sporting Goods in Beavercreek, and RP donated one pair of shoes, and Dick's two pair of shoes to the walk. So we have five pairs of shoes to begin with, which should be enough to get me through about 2,000 miles or 4.5 to 5 months worth of the journey. We are hoping to solicit more donations from running stores or sporting goods stores as the walk goes and we get to and through cities. Most of the other gear has been donated (mostly by my mom and sister), so we're almost all geared up and ready to take to the road.
Our fundraising has been slow, as I am completely clueless as to how to do this, and I am overall just a shitty salesman in general. A friend from a Facebook group I am in does grant writing for a living and has been sending off some grant applications for us pro-bono, so we are hoping that some of that in a few months will happen for us.
If you guys want, feel free to check out the podcast on most major podcast platforms, Apple, Amazon, Spotify, Podchaser or here at Podbean https://hallacrossthecountry.podbean.com/e/hall-across-the-country-kickoff/
Or if you prefer video here, https://youtu.be/PK6AnuJ8i4o?si=_IYkxi4TpRnR3rix
Again I know the audio has some issues, and hopefully we can get that ironed out. Be gentle.
Have a great weekend guys, and I will see you next Saturday as we get back to our weekly meetings here.
Much Love and GO BUCKS!
