What are your favorite choices for "budget" priced bourbon/whiskey in 2025?
Since the cost of everything these days is high I'll define "Budget" as less than $40 (but I'm willing to hear arguments up to $50).
Some background, I am somewhat new to bourbon, having really gotten into it in the last 2 years. I have come to appreciate this brown offering but I can't bring myself to drop more than $40 on a bottle. Fortunately I have discovered plenty of good offerings at this price point and below.
My favorite is Nobel Oak Double Oak Bourbon. Its bottled in Cincinnati and they age bourbon in sherry oak barrels.
I also really enjoy Elijah Craig, Buffalo Trace, Larceny, and Benchmark.
One that I just can't seem to like is Woodford Reserve. Every time I've tried it its been incredibly disappointing.
What are our favorites in this category?
Oh, one that stretches the "budget" label and I really enjoy is Isaac Bowman Port finished bourbon. I paid $44 for it but it was very enjoyable. Their straight bourbon comes in around $38 I think. I will need to sample it soon.
