On Andy Staples' podcast with Ari Wasserman https://theathletic.com/podcast/83-the-andy-staples-show/?episode=191, they debated which fan base is the saddest in America right now.
The contenders included Michigan, Tennessee, Nebraska, Texas, Penn State, USC, Georgia, and Florida State.
After debating the sadness inherent in following each of these teams, Staples settled on Nebraska because not only are they sad and sorry, there is no path out for them. They hired their hometown hero (like Michigan) and extended his contract (unlike Michigan) and don't have any real formula back to where they think they belong.
Who do you think should be the saddest fan base in America and why?
