There has been much speculation around the B1G that, after Purdue canceled practice today due to positive COVID tests, Indiana could play Ohio State on Saturday. However, that possibility is looking rather murky at the moment.
As reported by the Indianapolis Star, IU has paused team football activities after a series of positive tests COVID tests within the football program that were taken on Tuesday morning before practice.
In a statement, IU athletics director Scott Dolson said:
"The health and safety of our students, coaches and staff is paramount. In consultation with our medical experts, we decided this is the appropriate decision at this time. We will continue to assess the situation moving forward."
Although they have not ruled out the possibility of a game this Saturday, if Indiana is indeed unable to play, whether against Purdue or Ohio State, Tom Orr of Buckeye Scoop made a very interesting observation...
Based on the fact that everyone in the B1G other than OSU who has missed one game has also missed a second, its now entirely possible that if Indiana cant play this weekend, they also wont be able to play B1G championship game weekend.
Things are great, thanks for asking.
