Everyone with eyes knows that Keven Warren has been a complete and utter disaster for the BIG. What I don't get is why is it up to the presidents of the conference to determine who serves as BIG commissioner?
Lets face it, the presidents of higher education have a ton on their respective plates--academics, professors and tenure, fund raising, etc., so we can't expect them to really take the time to really understand what is going on too deeply with the commissioner's office. Additionally, it is fair to say that for most of the presidents, sports is not their area of expertise.
Given all that, why can't the conference leave it up to the AD's to have the power to hire, evaluate, and fire the commissioner? If the AD's are the experts at their schools regarding the athletic departments, then it makes total sense to give them this responsibility and let the presidents do whatever the hell they do best (which is not sports!). This way, the BIG could cut their loses and tell Warren they are sorry it did not work out, and send him on his way.
While COVID-19 was challenging for everyone, Warren's complete lack of leadership and basic common sense is bound to cost the conference again in the not too distant future. The AD's should be given the power to find a replacement.
