College football administrators, along with the CFP administrators, are leaning toward a twelve team playoff over an eight team playoff. Pete Thamel at Yahoo! Sports reported that, after meetings between television executives, CFP executives, and college football administrators, the model being looked at is a twelve team playoff.

Athletic directors from Notre Dame, Alabama, the Big 12, and the Mountain West are the four chosen to negotiate the changes in the CFP format.
