There have been a lot of threads covering it obviously but it is now official. Texas and OU have requested entry into the SEC and the SEC has announced they will “evaluate” the request. The SEC is expected to approve the entry with a vote of 13-1, Texas A&M will be the lone dissenting vote on the grounds they wanted to be the only Texas school in the SEC.
Biggest piece of news is they said they want to wait out the grant of rights meaning they won’t change conferences until the 2025 football season. Rumors had circulated that the SEC/ESPN would pay the $70 million exit fee in order to bring them into the fold sooner.
