Texas A&M was fined $100,000 for fans rushing the filed after the win over Alabama. What is the reasoning for a fine? Don't they realize this is college football and storming the field after a big win is a timeless tradition? I was on the field after the the 2006 OSU-UM game - priceless! They had security around the goal posts to prevent them from being torn down.

Can anyone explain the origins of such a fine and the reasons why it is supposedly needed? Seems like it is routinely ignored and treated like a cost of doing business.
