Being from BIg Ten country I think most of us feel like the SEC has some questionable officiating bias when it comes to protecting their top teams. Hell, we felt it directly in 2019 when the SEC review crew repeatedly screwed over Ohio State from the booth in the Clemson semi-final game. I will go to my grave believing they were protecting LSU from the OSU match up in the championship.
After watching the Bama Arkansas game and the blatant bias by the officials towards Bama, why do the other SEC teams tolerate it? The Jameson Williams TD catch late in the 3rd was clearly not a legal catch, yet unbelievably they upheld the call on the field.
I honestly think the SEC has an unspoken agreement with their members that whatever it takes to prop up the league and give them the best chance to get two teams in the playoffs, the other teams just bend over and take it. Those silly "SEC" chants only reinforce my belief that these shit on schools buy into that narrative.
As a Buckeye, imagine our team coming into the Game during a down year (just for the sake of this argument, I hope I never have to experience that feeling again) and being ok with league officials giving every close call to ttun (assuming they had a team like this year's team) to ensure they would represent the league in the playoffs. No one would be ok with that shit, but that is the SEC way.
Honestly, as much as we bitch about B1G officials, at least they aren't blatantly propping up this type of scheme. Any SEC fans out there with an opinion on this topic?
