Did anyone notice TSUN ran a flea flicker on 2nd down, while up 28-3, with only 8 minutes left?
When the game is out of reach, I have no issue with passing the ball, as it’s up to the defense to stop it. It’s also a time to get players meaningful snaps and a time to develop.
That said, a flea flicker is a trick play commonly used in desperate moments.
In this case, the desperate moment was not due to a threatening Iowa offense; nor was it during a comeback attempt.
The desperate moment was to run up the score, for what reason only Harbaugh knows.
Some might argue “style points,” but maybe I’m unaware that calling a flea flicker while up 25 pts and 8 min left is going to get a lot of style points?
It just looks pathetic and classless to me, especially for a program that boasts about class.
