It is beyond hilarious that Saban is complaining about schools being able to buy players. When Bryant Bank was created and Saban came on the Alabama scene shortly thereafter, Alabama began paying recruits to get them to come to Alabama. Alabama continues to stockpile 5* and top 4* recruits on its roster and seldom finishes lower than first in the recruiting rankings. Saban is upset because now there are schools who are willing to put out large amounts of cash (Texas and Texas A&M) top attract top recruits.
Hand it to Alabama though, they have created an efficient recruiting machine that is unrivaled in college football. It operates like a private corporation that is well managed, well financed, and has a top CEO in Saban.
Saban just needs to get used to the fact that, now that NIL is here, many other schools can now offer financial incentives to recruits (I know that schools can't actually offer deals to recruits...they can just help facilitate them, but I digress).
College football has always been the minor leagues for the NFL. Now players can/will receive financial compensation beyond scholarships and what they include. The cat is out of the bag and there is no putting the Genie back into the bottle.
