De'Veon Smith, a former running back for TTUN from 2013-16, was cut from the Pittsburgh Maulers of the USFL after what was considered a disrespectful interaction with a team food worker. The worker offered him chicken salad, and he asked for a slice of pizza instead. After the pizza was refused him, the worker asked if that would be a problem. He said yes, and then walked away. Later, in a meeting with the coach with two other team personnel present, the coach cut Smith for violating line 46 of the team rules which governs conduct, including disrespect.
