Tennis is not usually a sport associated with Ohio, but both The Ohio State University in Division I and Case Western Reserve University (Cleveland) in Division III brought home championship hardware from the 2023 NCAA tournaments.
The Buckeyes finished the team matches as runners-up, after upsetting secon-seeded Georgia in the semifinals. In the individual tournament, the men's doubles team of Andrew Lutschaunig and James Trotter beat the No. 3 ranked team of Cleeve Harper and Eliot Spizzirri of Texas 6-4, 6-4 to win the doubles championship.
In Division III, Case Western Reserve University won the team title with a final-round victory over Tufts University.
Here too the men's doubles team (senior James Hopper and junior Vishwa Aduru) won their individual match. Case Western Reserve athletes won rhe doubles title for the second straight year.
