Just saw a post on Instagram that had this list and it went:
1) Saquon, 2) Denard Robinson, 3) JT Barrett, 4) Jonathan Taylor, 5) Kenneth Walker.
All things considered, this list is pretty damn shitty and clearly very little research went into it because its sole purpose is to get clicks and drum up conversation.
However, it's a great question that I am finding incredibly difficult to list out. I don't think I can make a Top 5 myself at this point because of how many players there are in that time frame, but the B1G has had some ridiculous players.
I don't view the word "iconic" as necessarily meaning "best". It means that this is a player that had gravitas, an image, had an aura or feeling about him when people brought up his name.
Some names that come to mind for me on this list, in no particular order:
- Troy Smith
- Melvin Gordon
- Montee Ball
- Zeke
- Mike Pos-whatever (can't remember the spelling but the LB from PSU)
- JT Barrett
- Ted Ginn
- Denard Robinson
- Jake Long
- Joe Thomas
- Lavar Arrington
- AJ Hawk
- James Laurinaitis
- Juice Williams
- Chase Young
I copped out by saying I couldn't do this, but can you? Let's see your lists for the most iconic Big Ten players of the 2000s.
