2025 cornerback Jordyn Woods flips from Cincinnati and commits to Ohio State.
While I won't get into my distaste for a lot of the changes going on in college football, I would love for someone to explain to me like I'm a confused child why they don't implement the following- I mean there has to be a good reason right?
-Top of mind is headsets in 1 on-field player's helmet. And don't try to sell me that it's too expensive. Easy to implement, takes away a now obviously exploitable issue.
-Targeting should be similar to a flagrant 1/flagrant 2 penalty in basketball. If it meets the technical definition of targeting, but isn't obviously an attempt to hurt a guy, it should be 15 yards, and do it again, you're out. I don't like the subjectivity of that, but it's usually pretty clear when the contact is incidental (Trevor Lawrence lowering is helmet level and Wade bumping into it). No way players should be booted from the game for stuff like that.
-Pass Interference, I would say should be flagrant versus incidental as well. I thought it used to be that way in the NFL- if the legs just get tangled or the defender accidentally runs into the receiver- something like that, it's just a 15 yarder. But if it's an obvious oh s#@! I just got burnt, let me tackle this guy- it should be a spot penalty.
-Why does the transfer portal open before all the bowl games are played? Is there some advantage to players that overrides the disjointed nature of it. I can see where this didn't matter before it became a trend to sit out bowls, and obviously transfer willy nilly, but as things stand now, the portal opening should be moved back to mid-January.
-Finally, why is that scummy organization up north allowed to continue to exist?
