I don't know why it's never been talked about in great detail. In 20 years ive never seen any major articles question it or say this is why. The only reason for the SEC dominance over the last 20 years is the fact that they oversign. Ohio State has always signed 20 to 26 players a year. Georgia and Alabama have consistently signed 30 plus. Idk that it was that Saban was was as amazing as he was, or just givin the fact that if you consistently sign 5 to 10 more players to everybody else. Every year. You have 5 to 10 more chances of hitting a diamond in the rough. I don't care if there all 3 stars (which they are not, mostly 4 and 5). I don't understand how this has never been capped to make the playing field even and fair. This goes all the way back to Tressel. When you have 5 to 9 more bodies to choose from a year, there is going to be 5 to 10 more starting lineup chances than everyone else. It's always bothered me. It's not that they play "real big boy football in the south" or "sec speed" that we've heard over the years. It is strictly that year after year, after year, they have 5 to 10 more chances to get it right and that has always been an extreme talent advantage.
