Josh Pate called it out and I agree with him. It's not on the fans with regular jobs to donate $5/10 dollars to NIL if the media rights are $80-100 million dollars per year.
Even if it costs $20 million/year for the coaches and $13 million/year NIL for the players (it's wild the coaches are paid more than the players. Just to look back at a saner time, Jim Tressel's contract started at $700,000 per year), this could easily be paid by the media rights alone without factoring in ticket sales, merchandise, Nike contracts. The schools should pay players, and instead of NIL, that should simply be money donated to the sports program (to pay players). There's no reason for this opaqueness and fans should not have to fund NIL period.
