Just as the NCAA did with Florida St and Florida, they are going back in time to investigate Tennessee for potential NIL malpractice.

An issue with what the NCAA is doing includes the fact that the NIL rules/guidelines have been very nebulous from the jump and the NCAA failed to take any action to get control of the situation when they had they chance. Now, it looks like a desperate attempt to appear like they still have control or any authority.

While I couldn’t care less about those particular teams being investigated, it DOES make me scratch my head as to why they are choosing to look at those programs when it seems the Wild Wild West of NIL has been enjoyed by all. They also didn’t seem to react to much more pressing violations, such as a team on the path to a title that was known to be cheating and had been caught red handed.

This DOES make me grateful that OSU took the more careful approach with NIL so as to avoid any downstream issues or investigations.

I used to appreciate OSU’s honesty and forthrightness during investigations and trying to do the right thing ethically, but after seeing TCUN win a title essentially telling the B1G and NCAA to “shove off” and daring them to “do something about it”, I currently don’t see the advantages of cooperating. Maybe the NCAA will change my mind if they hammer TCUN into oblivion.
