They probably will be seeded 13th or 14th and go the way of most teams with that seeding, but the Akron Zips are the first Ohio team to make the NCAA Tournament after winning the MAC Tournament final.
The Zips beat Northeast Ohio rival Kent State 62-61 in a nip-and-tuck game that saw the winning points scored by guard Greg Tribble making two free throws with four seconds to play.
Kent State had been the eighth (last) seed in the MAC Tournament, but upset regular-season champion Toledo on the way to the bid-deciding showdown with Akron.
