ESPN posted a story this week (I would link but it seems to have been removed) about the Ole Miss spring game. The focus of the story was about how there was almost no football at the spring game.
Instead, there were tug of war battles amongst players, there was a hot dog eating contest featuring Joey Chestnut, and several other non-football events.
Lane Kiffin talked about his approach to spring games by essentially saying that it's about limiting transfers. If there's no game, there's no depth chart and thus players won't have as much information about where they stand in the hierarchy.
From an outsider perspective, I have to assume this approach will very soon be assumed by other schools. So, are you still going to the Shoe for a circus each April?
