I heard Neuheisal and Childers today mention that "it would be good for the sport if we get rid of conference championships and the associated conf championship games". This is the 2nd time I've heard this concept during the past week. I think it's an awful idea and it feels like this is another move by the powers that be to bring in more revenue at the expense of our traditions.
The logic that is being presented is that "Conference title games don't mean anything anymore AND by eliminating the conference championship weekend they can expand the playoffs and bring in more revenue for the game".
These morons (college football / the big media partners) got rid of our traditional, regional conferences to replace them with super conferences, they replaced our bowl system (which I used to love before they rendered them 2nd class events), they expanded the playoffs to 12 teams, they're making this into the NFL JV and now they want to expand the playoffs further and get rid of our conference championships.
I might just be a middle-aged / old guy yelling at the clouds but I'm so sick of these media guys driving this for media $$'s all the while telling us how great it is for all of us fans. Look you pricks, we'll tell you if we like it and want it, don't tell us.
Rant over....sorry for that.
