I went to a concert with a buddy last night and we had about a 30 minute drive to get to the venue.  I live in Kansas City, so it's absolutely NOT common to find anyone who gives the tiniest bit of a flying fuck about scUM cheating at a level never-before seen in sports.  It's a hard life for me ;-)

However, my buddy is also a Buckeye fan, and we discuss Buckeye football year-round and text during the games.  Even so, he hasn't absorbed the TCUN Scandal like I have.  He knows they cheated, he knows Fuckface (former coach) is a POS human, and he knows the general gist of the scandal. He expects them to be fined and Moore to be suspended.  He has no faith in the NCAA issuing an appropriate or significant punishment.

On our drive, we were listening to sports talk radio and something was mentioned that was related to scUM.  My buddy mentioned something about gambling, and that was my cue. I seized the opportunity.  I went on to explain what I called "the news of the week" regarding the scandal; the Weiss computer info that led to the administration knowing about this shit in Jan '23, the "closing of the loop" by sports books, the MOU situation with the coaching staff, and as I always do I took this opportunity to exclaim how badly scUM is fucked once this all comes to light.

His response was probably what most peoples' would be.  He was silent. After a few moments of awkward silence we moved on to other topics.

This scandal story is truly stranger than fiction.  When I stepped back and thought about what I was telling him, I realized how absolutely bonkers it must sound to someone who hasn't followed it closely.  I reflected on how the internet can truly send people down rabbit holes from which they struggle to escape.  I reflected on the echo chambers that we all fall victim to.

All that said, I have ZERO reason to believe I have been led astray during this odyssey.  Which is a little scary when I think about it.  It gives me pause.  I think about that sad and pitiful scUM fan who is clinging to Ryan Day's brother being the fall guy whose revelations will make the world make sense again, and for a second, I am him.  For a second, I feel a pang of sympathy and empathy for his plight.  Then I come to my senses and click on the next roman-numeraled scandal thread.
