It's possible over a span of only three weeks, Notre Dame currently has the best pair of wins in the country AND the worst loss in the country -- at the same time.
The only teams that have already beaten two power conference opponents in true road games are Notre Dame (Texas A&M by 10 and Purdue by 59) … and UNLV (Houston by 20 and Kansas by 3). The only other teams who could try to make the case they have TWO higher quality wins are Washington State (probably not) ... Georgia, Oregon, Pittsburgh (but each has a narrow escape) ... and then teams that have one strong win (Texas, Tennessee) but played chumps in their other games.
As far as worst losses, hard to argue against being #5 in the nation and losing at home to a Northern Illinois squad that was a .500 team last year. Somebody might point to Toledo smoking Mississippi State 41-17 down south, but I think the better team just won that game by more than expected.
