Summary is because the committee was hellbent on "not punishing" SMU and to justify keeping them in, they in turn overvalued teams with weak resumes (TX and PSU) in order to stay consistent. As a result, Oregon (and OSU) get royally screwed in the process to have to (potentially) play each other in the quarters. As he described it, the seeding became artificial at that point. And he's right.
