I thought this story was worth sharing, considering how monumental of an upset this was. Granted, UNLV won the exhibition in a shootout, but to see a club team defeat a very good D1 program is shocking. For context, Denver won the national title last year and is currently a top-5 team (per USCHO). UNLV has a very good club team and is supposedly trying to make the jump to D1 hockey soon. Still, the talent gap between a good club team and a good D1 team is staggering.
