Dirk Koetter- the previous offensive coordinator for Boise State recently revealed a few nuggets about NIL budgets and what they're up against - hint Oregon is involved.
- Boise State's salary cap is only $2 Million, up $400k from last year
- A coach who recently got a job at a "middle of the pack" B12 team said that their budget is $12.5 Million
- Oregon offered Boise State's offensive lineman $700k. In order to match that offer, Boise would be spending 35% of the allocated budget on just 1 player. Sheesh!
- It's estimated that Boise State starters could get minimally $200K in the open market
I believe NIL and the transfer portal will bring some parity and even the playing field because these budgets will fill up and some players in the portal will have to accept less to go to another school because they "missed the boat".
Some of these small teams will get a player or two that is of higher NIL value, but teams that have 10x budgets can just stock pile players.
I wonder if Ohio State will up their Budget to $30 Million to keep up with the "jones'" until NIL gets a little more under control.
