It probably won't end up happening, but Jim Phillips mentioned that the ACC is looking into changing its rules for its championship game:

A few of the ideas he was spitballing with included a two-round format to the conference championship, either with 1v4 then 2v3 or 2v3 with the regular season champ getting a bye.
While the idea that the top ACC teams may need to play yet another game to reach the CFP may seem a little rough, I actually think this is a great idea to keep the ACC, BXII, and G5 relevant in this new playoff era. It's also a great way for this second tier of CFB to make additional cash.
